How to plug something into the Internal USB Header-pin on the motherboard?
I'm trying to install a Scythe 18 in 1 Card Reader and Floppy Disk Drive, and it wants me to plug something into the USB header pin. The problem is, there are two rows of pins on the motherboard, and the plug only has one row. Normally, to plug in a USB port I guess, the plug will have one row of five pins next to one row of four pins. The plug I'm trying to stick in there has four wires and then a space, so I could stick it in either but it'd only really be using four pins. Do I stick it onto the row with four pins and a space, or the row with five pins?
Each header consists of two USB ports. I have a similar device and it has an additional USB port as well as the card readers. So mine takes both USB ports.
Both sets contain a positive and negative communications, power and ground. The additional pin (the fifth pin on one side) is an overcurrent protection ground.
Since your device only has four pins, it will not make a difference in which set you plug the device into it.
